Scenario Well Control Incorporating Human Factors

Duration: 3 days

About this course

This program combines team-based scenario exercises on the DS5000 rig floor simulator with classroom sessions where the basic principals of human factors as well as advanced theoretical well control concepts are studied. Delegates will be assigned together in teams and will be faced with several simulated real-life well control related scenarios.

We have incorporated crew resource management (CRM) training into our scenario well control training. The course is fully in line with recommendations in IOGP reports 501 and 502, which describe guidelines for implementing Well Operations Crew Resource Management training. The theoretical and practical CRM sessions will be led and delivered by a qualified CRM expert.

Although there is no hard prerequisite, delegates are expected to have basic well control knowledge (IWCF/IADC level 3 or 4). Ideally, rig teams are trained in their normal setup, with the following positions attending:

  • Drillers and assistant drillers
  • Toolpushers
  • Rig Managers
  • Drilling supervisors
  • Drilling Engineers
  • Drilling Managers
  • Operations Managers

Delegates will receive a certificate from Well Academy on completion of the course.
