About this course
The IWCF DWC level 3 and 4 course has been designed for anyone expected to shut-in a well, such as drillers and assistant drillers and reinforces and improves the candidate’s existing knowledge and appreciation of well control.
The course is delivered through virtual interactive lecturing supported by animations, group discussions, desktop exercises and alternated with simulator exercises.
Level 3 and 4 training is a combined class.
Course fee for the IWCF Drilling Well Control level 3 or level 4 course is EUR 1550
Designed for those who are expected to shut in a well:
- Assistant drillers
Candidates can select either “combined surface and subsea BOP” or “surface BOP” certification. They will take two written exams (principles & procedures and equipment) and will undergo a practical assessment on the simulator and must achieve a minimum score of 70% in each. Level 3 and 4 certificates are valid for 2 years.
Well Academy is using the platform ‘Zoom’ for virtual classroom delivery. Prior to the course, candidates will receive a soft copy of the course manual and joining instructions. A maximum of 7 hours per day will be spent on actual virtual lecturing. Candidates are expected to read the manual and work on questions after class and in the evening.
After completing the virtual training, candidates can take virtual assessments on the final day (Friday). Virtual practical assessments (DWC only) can be taken on the same week as the virtual training. To be eligible to complete virtual assessments, candidates must have successfully completed well control training previously and attend a virtual training course before taking the virtual assessments.
If candidates haven’t completed well control training previously, they will have up to 90 days to take the assessments at an accredited IWCF centre. Our Well Academy centres are open for assessments and you just need to contact us to arrange a suitable date and time.
Note: should attendance at an IWCF accredited centre still be difficult for new candidates we can assist employers with seeking dispensation, enabling these candidates to proceed with virtual assessments.
